Ailish Olive Cornwell, age 75, of Shiloh, Ill., born January 30, 1943 in Bo'ness, Scotland, one of six children, passed away April 13, 2018.

Ailish grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland. While working at a children's home, she met her future husband, a young airman, who, while stationed at a nearby air base, volunteered to host holiday parties at the children's home. They married April 20, 1963 at the Catholic Church in Edinburgh. She had worked at base commissaries while stationed at various air force bases. She became a citizen of the United States in 1967, shortly before her husband left for Vietnam. She was a devoted military spouse and was proud of her husband's and sons' military service. Ailish was a faithful Catholic and attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church and enjoyed tending to her flower garden.

She is survived by her husband Retired Air Force Master Sergeant Edward Cornwell of Shiloh, daughter Mary (James) Blythe of Fisher, Ill., son Retired Navy Petty Officer First Class John (Christel) Cornwell of Champaign, Ill., and son Air Force Colonel Paul (Vivian) Cornwell of Vienna, Va., grandchildren Ashley (Ryan) Gream of Fisher, Ill., Sarah (Sam) Armbrust of Peoria, Ill., Tyler (Andrea) Blythe of Cabot, Ark., Colleen Blythe of Fisher, Ill., Kayla and John Cornwell, of Vienna, Va., and Paul Cornwell of Champaign, Ill.; great-grandchildren Kaden, Keegan, Ryker, Raya, Roman, Marshall, and Liam.

Memorials can be made to Parkinson's Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 4 – 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon, Ill.

Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church,  205 Rasp St., Shiloh, Ill., with Msgr. James Margason presiding. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill.
