Alan Thomas Arnold, age 78, of O'Fallon, born February 26, 1943 in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away Wednesday evening, December 22, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Alan grew up in East St. Louis and worked for many years at Obear-Nester Glass Co. After they married, he and Alice soon moved to rural northwest O'Fallon, where they raised their two children, Bruce and Angie, and he enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting. In the early 1980's, they moved into town. Alan was self-employed for a few years before being hired as a custodian at OTHS, where Alice worked (and continues to work) in the cafeteria. Alan retired in 2011.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward Phillip and Pearl, nee Zeloy, Arnold; and his brothers Wayne (Liz) Arnold, and Carl Arnold.

He is survived by his wife, Alice, of O'Fallon; son Bruce (Susan) Arnold of O'Fallon; daughter Angela (Steve) Allen of Villa Hills; grandchildren Matt (Jenny) Arnold, Chelsea (Alex) Altman, and Blake (Sarah) Arnold; and two great-grandchildren Hunter Arnold and Candyce Paule; and his sister-in-law Marty Arnold.
