Obituary

Harold "Alan" Daggs of O'Fallon, Ill. was born November 12, 1958 in Oklahoma City, Okla. He passed away Wednesday, January 1st, 2025 peacefully in his home after struggling with health issues. He is the son of Harold Vernon Daggs and Ada Lucille Moberly Daggs Heitzman.

Alan grew up in Oklahoma City. He attended Putnam City Schools and graduated from Putnam City High School in 1977. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the US Army from 1977 to 1981. He specialized in Communications Command (CC) and served in Germany for 2 years. While in Germany, Alan joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He returned home and finished his service at Fort Sill, Okla. After his military service, he worked at Southwestern Bell and then moved to Cleveland, Ohio to work for Allnet Telecom.

Before moving to Cleveland, he met his sweetheart Elizabeth Ann Wittekind on December 31st, 1981. On September 14th, 1982, Alan and Elizabeth married in St. George, Utah in the St. George Temple where they are sealed for time and all eternity. They have two daughters – Jessica Daggs and Valerie Daggs Bledsoe.

After living in Cleveland for 2 years, they moved to Nashville, Tenn. where Alan started working for Sprint as a telecommunications specialist for 10 years. He then transferred with Sprint to Kansas City, Kan. He worked there for 25 years while living in Olathe, Kan. where he and Elizabeth raised their family. After working with Sprint, he went to work at Scott Air Force Base in Shiloh, Ill. with the Department of Defense with communications for 12 years until he retired in January 2022.

Alan enjoyed traveling with his family, eating good BBQ, Oklahoma Sooner and Dallas Cowboys football, classic rock music, and fast cars along with many other things. He was a kind and good-hearted man; laid back, easy going, and had a good sense of humor that he passed on to his daughters.

Preceded in death by his parents and brother Kenneth. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth; daughters Jessica (Griffin) Daggs of Leawood, Kansas and Valerie Daggs (Devon) Bledsoe of Fairview Heights, Ill.

He was a beloved husband, father, uncle, cousin, and friend. We are forever grateful for the time we had with him. He will be missed greatly.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation (https://www.kidney.org/ ) as Alan was a kidney transplant recipient.
