Amy A.R. Kieser, nee Larson, age 45, of O'Fallon, Ill., born April 20, 1967 in Milwaukee, Wisc. to Marilyn and Paul Larson, passed away after a two-year battle with cancer on Monday, January 14, 2013.
Amy grew up in Fox Point, Wisc. just outside of Milwaukee, graduating from Nicolet High School and Marquette University. She was an accomplished ballet dancer and possessed many talents including singing, piano, writing and art. Though she always sang, she really found her voice in her 30s when she began performing jazz and standards, taking after her mother Marilyn Larson Besasie and grandfather, big band leader Joe Gumina. Singing and music, her children, family, travel, English literature – these are things that brought her joy.
All who knew her enjoyed her wicked sense of humor, her beautiful face, her unique take on life, her resolve and her intellect. When so inclined, she lit up the world with her bright light, talent and wit; other times she was quietly reading. She lived voraciously at both ends of the spectrum.
Amy is survived by her husband David, sons Quentin Meade, Evan Sinclair and Liam Joseph; mother Marilyn Larson Besasie and stepfather Frederick Besasie; sister Beth Rose Luna (Mark), nephew Alex and niece Annabelle; brother Seth Larson (Diane) and his children and grandchildren; aunt and uncle Rosemary and Gary Wesela; aunt and uncle Vicki and Fred Gumina and their children and grandchildren; plus many other cousins and extended family members, including those in the US Air Force, who are part of Amy's loving circle.
Amy is preceded in death by her father Paul Larson, brother Tom Larson, niece Isabella Grace Torroll, grandparents Joseph and Rose Gumina, cousin Jacob Schmitz, niece Jennifer Larson, cousin Patrick Gumina and aunt and uncle Marilyn and Joseph Gumina.
Funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 25, 11:00 a.m. at Three Holy Women Parish, St. Hedwig's Church, 1702 N. Humboldt St., Milwaukee, Wisc..
