Amy Lojan, nee Patrick, age 56, of O'Fallon, born April 17, 1967 in Minneapolis, passed away June 2, 2023 at her home following a brave battle with glioblastoma.
Amy grew up in an Air Force family, the oldest of three girls and traveled the world to Washington, Alaska, California, Turkey, Washington DC, and finally, O'Fallon, Ill. Along the way, she met many friends with whom she remained in contact her entire life. Amy pursued her education at the University of Iowa, where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority (ZTA). As a proud alumna, Amy was an avid Hawkeyes fan, and was often seen sporting the Hawkeyes logo. Amy volunteered for many church and community events over the years. She was an Adaptive Physical Education teacher at Mt. Vernon High School before becoming a stay-at-home mom for her son Joey. As he grew, Amy earned her Certification for Special Education from McKendree University and returned to teaching at Estelle Kampmeyer School and Carriel Jr. High in O'Fallon's District 90, and later Triad and Mascoutah schools. Amy was passionate about helping young people grow and to work through their issues to become better adults. Amy was a faithful parishioner at St. Nicholas Catholic Church.
Amy loved to travel, especially to Minnesota, where she could hike and take photographs. As a soccer mom, Joey was the center of her universe, and she was Joey's biggest fan. She loved Christmas, was always willing to help others, and had a straight-forward personality. Amy had an infectious giggle and a smile that could light up a room.
She was preceded in death by her dogs Buddy and Pluto.
Surviving are her husband Mike Lojan, whom she married June 17, 2007 in O'Fallon; her son Joseph Patrick Lojan; her parents Jay William and Lynda Kay, nee Shimon, Patrick; her sisters Kimberly Ann (Clint) Hamel of Highland, Ill. and Bethany Lea (Robb) York of Clarkston, Mich., her nephews and niece Cameron, Grace, Davis, Ellis, and Lucas and her dog Pepper.
