Ardell "Art" Otto Albers, age 91, of O'Fallon, born June 18, 1923 in Lively Grove, Ill., died Thursday morning, December 11, 2014 at Cedar Ridge Health and Rehab Center, Lebanon, Ill.
Art raised livestock and farmed his land east of O'Fallon. He was retired from Scott AFB civil service where he worked as a painter. He was a World War II Army veteran and served in Korea. A long-time member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, he was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 4239. He was a hard worker, and he enjoyed his work, both on the farm and as a painter.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marcella "Sally," nee Hummert, Albers, whom he married October 28, 1944 and who passed away October 26, 2014; his parents George and Teodora, nee Wienstroer, Albers; his son Jeffrey Albers, sisters Dorothy Juenger and Virginia Gaubatz, and bother Eugene Albers.
Surviving are his children Geraldine (Donald) Hubert, of Lebanon; Carol (Robert) Stock of Highland, and Ardell "Bud" (Tiffany) Albers, Jr., of Glencoe, Mo.
Also surviving are his grandchildren Scott, David, and Douglas Hubert, Bill (Joanna) Theismann, Amy (Drew) Nagel, Greg Theismann, Danielle (Daniel) Szafir, Zachary Albers, and Jace Albers; great-grandchildren Samantha, Hailey, and Dustin Hubert, Bailey and Joshua Theismann, Will and A.J. Theismann, Aiden Nagel; one great-great-granddaughter Raina Marie Hubert; siblings Loretta Frederking, Juliet Frederking, Charlotte Wombacher, Walter Albers, and Sandra Klein.
Memorial donations may be made to Unity Hospice in appreciation for their care and kindness.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Monday, December 15, 2014 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon, and after 10:00 am, Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O'Fallon.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at the church, with Msgr. William J. Hitpas presiding. Entombment will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Ill.
