Art was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Arthur J. “Puz” Weider, age 99, lifelong resident of Troy, Illinois, born December 19, 1926 in Troy, to John and Florence, nee Hall, Weider, passed away September 20, 2026. Art was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. After graduating from McCray-Dewey High School in Troy, he was inducted into the Army in 1945 and served during World War II. He married Gladys Loyet on May 17, 1947; she passed away March 27, 2026. 

Art was a painter in residential painter and retired from Consolidated Aluminum, (formerly Dow Chemical Co.). He was a lifelong member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, where he served on the Building Committee, and also as a Trustee and member of the Finance Council. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #9266 and American Legion. 

He is survived by daughters Karen (Darrell) Becker of Highland; and Annette (Lowell) Mills of Marine; daughter-in-law Paula Weider; seven grandchildren Amanda (Jeff) Wolf, Lauren (Kevin) Switala, Angela (Kassidy) Kueper, Sarah (Carl Day) Weider, Emily (Michael) Pingsterhaus, Eric (Lauren) Smith, and Chelsea (Benjamin) Zelasko; 17 great-grandchildren; and sister Dawn M. (Leo) Brenkendorf of Troy. 

In addition to his wife Gladys, he was preceded in death by his sons Curtis Weider and Stuart Weider; grandson Lance Becker; sister Valeria Frey and brother Alfred Weider.

He married Gladys Loyet on May 17, 1947; she passed away March 27, 2026.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 507 S. Main St., Troy, Ill., with Fr. Kevin Laughery presiding. The family will receive friends at a luncheon, immediately following Mass, downstairs in the church hall. 

Private burial will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Blackjack, Ill.
