August Clemens Neff, age 81, of O'Fallon, born Sept. 29, 1927 in Beaver Prairie, Ill., passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Christian Hospital in St. Louis County.
Mr. Neff was a Navy veteran of World War II and worked as a laborer in Local 670, O'Fallon, Ill. He was a member of American Legion Fischer-Solis Post 137, O'Fallon.
Gus was preceded in death by his parents August and Margaret, nee Rosen, Neff; and brothers Pete and Jerome, and sisters Christine Hasenstab, Florence Perschbacher, and Margaret Krieber.
He is survived by his sister Judith (Alan) Swope of Ripley, Tenn., brother Clifford (Patricia) Neff of Florissant, Mo., dear friend Claire Stone of Swansea, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice or in the form of Masses.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 12, 2008 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington Street, O'Fallon, Ill., and from 12:00 p.m. – 12:45 p.m., Saturday, December 13, 2008.
Funeral: Procession will depart the funeral home at 12:45 p.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 13, 2008 at St. Clare Catholic Church with Rev. James Deiters presiding. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill., with military honors.
