Barbara Elizabeth Balabas, OD, age 41, of Waterloo, Ill., formerly of O'Fallon, born January 28, 1977 in Evanston, Ill., passed away Friday evening, November 23, 2018 at Memorial East Hospital, Shiloh, Ill.

Barbara attended high school in Mount Vernon, Ill., and college at SIU Carbondale. She continued her education at Indiana University, earning her MS in Microbiology, and her Doctorate in Optometry. Dr. Balabas and her family moved to O'Fallon in 2009. She was employed as an optometrist at Crown Vision Centers, working primarily at the Alton location and occasionally in O'Fallon. She was a devoted mother and wife.

She was preceded in death by her mother Anastasia, nee Andolsek, Quinby.

Surviving are her husband Brad Balabas; her sons Austin and Braden, all of Waterloo, Ill., her father Lee Quinby of St. Louis, Mo., brothers Robert (Amanda) Quinby and Paul Quinby of Bloomington, Ind., and her parents-in-law Bill and Arlene Balabas of Eldorado, Ill.; and brother-in-law Jason Balabas of Buffalo Gove, Ill.
