Barbara "Barb" Jean Fowler of Swansea, Ill., born September 6, 1946 in East St. Louis, Ill. to Margaret Felox, passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side on May 15, 2024. Barbara Fowler dedicated 23 years in the advertising industry at DMB&B. She accomplished the giant feat of changing careers in 2010 where she dedicated 4 more years to MITRE as an Information Security Manager. Barbara then challenged herself further by pursuing her goal of obtaining higher education and earned a Bachelor's degree in 2011. Barbara retired in 2014 but continued to work, as she loved to stay busy, constantly learn, and seek new challenges. Barbara Fowler had many friends she made throughout her career and life whom she cherished deeply. Her friends considered her a sweet and thoughtful person who regularly put others before herself. She loved to crochet and knit, enjoyed shopping, and socializing with her long-time friends from high school. However, her biggest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her two children, Terry (Joanne) Fowler of Fairview Heights, Ill. and Kimberly Fowler of Swansea, Ill., her 4 grandchildren Sarah Fowler, Jamie (fiancée Sabrina) Fowler, Valari (Thomas Cooper) Fowler, and Kobie Fowler, one great- grandchild Adelynn Grace Cooper, and her beloved cat Sammy. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband Rocky Fowler. She considered the family she leaves behind her biggest accomplishment. She was steadfast in her love and tenacious in her dedication. The family and friends she has left behind will miss her supportive presence and generous love. Until they meet again, Barbara Jean Fowler will remain within their hearts, memories, and within the influence she has left with them.

A memorial service for Barbara Jean Fowler will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home,102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon, Ill..
