Bernice W. "Bern" Bostick, nee Wildhaber, age 92, of O'Fallon, Ill., born July 14, 1921 in St. Louis, Mo., passed away Saturday morning, March 22, 2014.
Bernice was born and raised in St. Louis, attended Rosati-Kain High School, graduated from Harris Teacher's College, and later earned her graduate degree from St. Louis University. She served in the US Marine Corps during World War II. She taught for many years in the St. Louis public elementary schools and later in her career was a Reading Specialist. She travelled often with her dear sister, Dolores, visiting much of Europe, China, and the US. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in St. Louis and was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in O'Fallon, and Yesterday's Kids group at the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, 1Lt James Keith Bostick, Army Air Corps, in 1946; and her parents Joseph and Marie, nee Lampe, Wildhaber.
Surviving are her son, Jim (Mary Ann) Bostick, of O'Fallon; her sister Dolores Wildhaber of O'Fallon; granddaughter Christine Trodglen of Belleville; and great-grandchildren Jonathan and Lauren Trodglen.
Memorials are kindly suggested to St. Nicholas Catholic Church or as Masses.
Visitation: Friends may call from 9:00 – 11:00 am, Thursday, March 27, 2014, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O'Fallon, Ill.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Thursday, March 27, 2014, at the church, with Msgr. William J. Hitpas presiding. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
