Betty Jane Dressel, nee Mantle, age 77, lifelong resident of O'Fallon, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Rosewood Care Center in Swansea, Illinois.

Mrs. Dressel worked as a data clerk at General American Life Insurance in St. Louis. She also worked at O'Fallon Twp. High School as a clerical aide and in the cafeteria while her daughter was younger, allowing her free summers and holidays. She was a member of O'Fallon United Church of Christ and was past president of VFW Post 805 Auxiliary. She and her husband had spent many winters in Brownsville, Texas as "snowbirds," providing great memories of their RV travels. Betty was a loving wife and a devoted mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ira Walton Mantle and Ina Emma, nee Bevirt, Mantle; and sister Jean Ahring.

She is survived by her loving husband, Norman, whom she married February 10, 1951; her daughter Beverly Dressel of O'Fallon, sister Delores Lysakowski of O'Fallon; nieces, nephews, cousins, and special god-daughter and niece Cindy Wolf of O'Fallon.

Memorial Donations in honor of Mrs. Dressel are suggested to O'Fallon United Church of Christ or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Visitation: Friends may call from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m., Friday April 17, 2009 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon.

Funeral Service will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday April 17, 2009 with Rev. Jack Spratte officiating. Interment will follow at O'Fallon City Cemetery.
