Betty Jean Gregory,  nee Traiteur, age 84, of O'Fallon, Ill., born October 12, 1933 in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away Monday, November 6, 2017, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, O'Fallon, Ill.

She graduated from Dupo Community High School in 1950.  Her first position was with the Aluminum Company of America.  She was later employed with Civil Service at the United States Disciplinary Barracks, Fort Gordon, Ga.  After returning home she was employed by O'Fallon Township High School and later retired from AT&T as secretary to the District Manager-Information Systems (Personnel & Administration), St. Louis, Mo.

Betty was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church, O'Fallon, Ill., Past Chairman of the St. Clare-St. Nicholas Quilting Club, a member of St. Clare Altar Angels, Alter Sodality, The Pinnochle Club, Mother's Club, Kitchen Band, O'Fallon Senior Citizens Club, and the Dupo Community High School Lunch Bunch.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Gregory, Sr., her parents, Leo and Viola, nee Linders, Traiteur, and an infant daughter, Mary.

Surviving are her daughters Denise (Chuck) Currier of O'Fallon, Ill.; Debra (Scott) Johnston of St. Louis, Mo.; her sons, James (Cathy) Gregory, Jr. of Arlington Heights, Ill. and John (Eddie Tawil) Gregory of South Hampton, N.Y.; two grandchildren Leann (Casey) McHugh and Christopher (Valerie) Currier; four great-grandchildren, Brogan, Neala and Kian McHugh and Mason Currier; brother, Tom Traiteur; sister-in-law, Carolyn Switzer; a niece; two nephews and cousins.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Clare Catholic Church, St. Clare Catholic School, or as masses.

Visitation:  The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 9, 2017 at St. Clare Catholic Church, 1411 Cross Street, Shiloh, Ill.

Funeral:  10:30 a.m. Mass, Friday, November 10, 2017 at St. Clare Catholic Church, with Rev. Jim Deiters presiding.  Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
