Bobby Dale Cornwall, age 68, born April 8, 1955 in East St. Louis, passed away at home on January 30, 2024 in O'Fallon, Ill.

Bobby grew up in East St. Louis and attended Cahokia schools. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps at age 18 and served as a rifleman and small arms repair technician.

He worked as an independent contractor installing flooring for area shops, primarily Joe's Carpet in Fairview Heights. He later was an over-the-road driver for First Capital Courier. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed camping, fishing and bowling. In 1987, he chose to move his family to O'Fallon and together they enjoyed the great community and schools. Bobby was a dedicated family man who best loved spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his sister Brenda Cornwall.

Surviving are his wife, Karen Lee Smith-Cornwall, of O'Fallon, who has been his companion for 42 years; his father Bobbie Gene Frank Cornwall of Keyesport; his mother Martha, nee Hawks, Miles of Fairview Heights; his children Christina (Josh) Trent of Clinton, Mo., Shannon (Kyle) Fangmeyer of Maryville, Alisha Cornwall of Fairview Heights, Melissa Cornwall of Collinsville, and Wendy Smith; 13 grandchildren, including Ashley, Jadyn, Angelina, and Lillian, to whom Dale was a special father figure; 17 great-grandchildren; his sister Pam Seal, many nieces and nephews, and loyal family friend Dave Tobin.

The family will receive friends from Noon – 3 pm, Monday, February 5, 2024 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W Washington St., O'Fallon. Family comments, followed by US Marine Honor Guard will begin at 1:30 pm.
