Carl David Mitchell, age 73, of O'Fallon, born September 10, 1939, in O'Fallon, Ill., died May 22, 2013 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Carl grew up in O'Fallon and graduated from OTHS Class of 1957. He honorably served in the US Navy from 1958-62, and was stationed in Bremerhaven, Germany. He recently retired from The ROHO Group where he had worked for 16 years. Carl was a dedicated Cardinals fan, and was an avid fisherman, bowler, and golfer. He was a member of the American Legion and O'Fallon Sportsmen's Club, and had participated in area pool leagues and cub scouts. He was a devoted son, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Henry Mitchell and his step-father Robert Simon.
Surviving are his mother, Ann M. Simon, of O'Fallon; his children and their families Bryan (Leticia) Mitchell and their son Ethan, of Santa Ana, Calif., Renee (Roger) Baldridge and their son Ryan of Cary, N. Car., and Kimberly (Steven) DeHoyos and daughters Kayla Hoff and Emily DeHoyos, of Shiloh, Ill., and his uncle David Roberts, of Belleville, Ill.
In lieu of flowers or other gifts, memorial donations are suggested to the family.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 – 8 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2013 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon, and again after 8:30 a.m., Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the funeral home.
Funeral: Services will begin at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Wolfersberger Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Dickinson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis County, Mo.
