Carol J. Brasel, nee Marvel, age 87, lifelong resident of O'Fallon, Ill., born December 31, 1930, passed away April 15, 2018 at Cedarhurst of Shiloh, with family gathered around.

Carol was the church secretary at O'Fallon United Church of Christ for over 30 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and Past President and member of American Legion Post 137 Auxiliary, and Past President and member of the church's Women's Guild.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband Elmo "Ray" Brasel, whom she married June 10, 1950 and who passed away March 9, 2012, and parents Rayland and Velma, nee Keck, Marvel.

She is survived by her children Denise Brasel Stayton of Centerton, Ark., Beverly (Jim) McFarland of Hernando, Fla., Julie (Steve) Totten of O'Fallon, Scott (Lois) Brasel of O'Fallon; grandchildren Jason (Dawn) Portz, Tiffany (Paul) Owens, Katie (fiancé Bryan Wilhaucks) Brasel, Hannah Brasel; great-grandchildren Raelyn Owens, Paul Owens, and Mason Portz; and her sister Gayle Fritsch of Lebanon, Ill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to O'Fallon United Church of Christ or Heartland Hospice.

Visitation: Friends may call from 10:00 – 11:00 am, Saturday, April 21, 2018, at O'Fallon United Church of Christ, 206 W. Adams St., O'Fallon.

Memorial Service: 11:00 am, Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the church, with Rev. Dr. Martha Thierheimer officiating. Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
