Carolyn Marie Shelton, nee Coleman, age 76, of Caseyville, Ill., born May 26, 1946 in Gideon, Mo., passed away March 16, 2023 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Carolyn was the sixth of ten children born to William Jesse and Ruth Hazel, nee Pyle, Coleman. She grew up in Gideon, Mo., where she was served on Student Council and excelled in athletics. She was a proud mother of her two sons Patrick and Sam and was a doting and fun-loving grandma to her five grandkids. Carol was witty and spunky, and she enjoyed playing Scrabble and board games. In her later years, she remained strong and resilient as she faced her health challenges.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Robert, James, Eddie, Ronnie, Curtis, and Teresa Coleman.

Surviving are her sons Patrick (Tonya) Shelton & children Jillian, Luke, Cole, & Kendall, of O'Fallon; and Sam (Gina) Shelton & daughter Sadie, of Affton, Mo., sister Myra "Loy" Stephens, and brothers Jerry (Giva) Coleman and Dennis (Connie) Coleman.

A gathering of friends and family to honor and celebrate the life of Carolyn Marie Shelton will be held Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon, Ill., from 4 – 6 pm, with a Memorial Service to begin at 6 pm, with Pastors Tom and Lidia Lingenfelter officiating.
