Catherine "Katie" Marie Stover, nee Ballard, age 80, of Shiloh, born January 17, 1933 to Robert and Bessie, nee Saul, Ballard, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013.
Mrs. Stover was a faithful parishioner at St. Nicholas Catholic Church where she enjoyed participating with Yesterday's Kids. She loved to play bingo, pinochle and poker. She was a graduate of St. Teresa Academy, Class of 1950. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed camping and fishing. She had worked as a civil service executive secretary at Scott AFB.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde R. "Smokey" Stover, Jr., her son Edward Stover; parents, and sisters Mary and Margaret Ballard.
Surviving are her sons, James (Pam) Stover of Shiloh, Steve (Polly) Stover of O'Fallon, John Stover of Freeburg, David Stover of Shiloh, Richard Stover of O'Fallon; her sons' half-brother Wayne Stover of London, United Kingdom; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and her brother Charles (Carole) Ballard of St. Louis, Mo., and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests memorials in the form of masses or to St. Nicholas Catholic Church Yesterday's Kids.
Visitation: Friends may call 4 – 8 p.m., Thursday, September 12, 2013, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O'Fallon, Ill.
Yesterday's Kids will conduct a walk through at 9:30 am, Friday, September 13, 2013 at the church.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, September 13, 2013 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, with Msgr. William J. Hitpas presiding. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
All visitation and services are at the church.
