Celeste Short, age 78, formerly of O'Fallon, born February 1, 1943 at Scott AFB, Ill., passed away January 2, 2022 at Aviston Countryside Manor, Aviston, Ill.

Celeste had previously taught piano and accordion lessons and enjoyed doing crafts. For many years, Celeste managed several area dry cleaning businesses throughout the metro-east and St. Louis. She also used to volunteer with her sister Carolyn at the O'Fallon Township Rummage Sale.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ray "Shorty" Short; and her parents Lester "Andy" and Esther, nee Luettinger, Anderson.

Surviving are her children Steven (Ute) Johnson of Trenton, Kevin Johnson of O'Fallon, Stacey (David) Gerdes of Bartelso, Ill,. and step-daughter Audrey Kasmarik of Highland, Ill.; sister Carolyn (Kenneth) Scheibel, of O'Fallon; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 – 11:00 am, Monday, January 10, 2022 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon, followed by a funeral service to begin at 11 am. Burial will follow at Summerfield Cemetery, Summerfield, Illinois.
