Obituary

Charles William Chinn was born May 19, 1935 in Belleville, Ill., to Clyde and Helen, nee Tribout, Chinn. He passed away May 22, 2025 at Cedar Ridge Nursing and Rehab, Lebanon, Ill.

Charlie grew up in Belleville, attended Jefferson Grade School, and graduated from Belleville Twp. High School in 1953. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served honorably for 5 years. He then began his long and dedicated career with Weyerhaeuser Co. Warehouse and Distribution, from where he retired. Charlie enjoyed the horse races and was a member of VFW Post 805. As a kid, he raised a pet squirrel, and throughout life, was the squirrels' best friend, keeping them fed off his back porch in O'Fallon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death and his brothers Joe Chinn and Adolph Chinn.

Survivors include his sister Patricia (Gib) Harter of O'Fallon, nieces Lisa Harter, Wendy Hofer, and Terry (Tim) Fleming; great-nieces Tracie Jo Hofer and Laura (Gabe) Molina; great-nephew  Todd Fleming and one great-great nephew Simon Molina.

Graveside Services with military honors will be 11 am, Monday, June 9, 2025 at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
