Obituary

Charles Harold Gregson, Jr., age 65, born November 5, 1958 in St. Louis, Mo., passed away December 8, 2023 at BJC Evelyn's Hospice House, Creve Coeur, Mo.

Charlie grew up in St. Louis and met Verna Mecker, his future wife, through her brother's high school band. They married in 1979. Charlie served in the US Navy 1981-85, and served aboard the USS Carl Vinson.

He had been employed with Johnson Controls, as a systems design specialist. Charlie was a talented musician; he composed pieces and played the guitar, bass, and piano. He also enjoyed the Arts and was an acrylic painter. Charlie was known fondly in his neighborhood as a Halloween enthusiast, as he helped create many fun memories for the neighborhood kids.

He is survived by his wife Verna, nee Mecker, Gregson, of O'Fallon and close friends.

Memorial donations are suggested to BJC Evelyn's House, in appreciation for their care and kindness to Charlie and Verna.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4 – 7 pm, Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon. Navy Honors will be rendered at 4:30 pm, followed by a few comments from friends.

Please note: Melvin Mecker, brother of Verna Gregson and dear friend to Charlie, passed away at the onset of the pandemic; therefore, he has not yet been appropriately honored. Mr. Mecker was a veteran of the US Navy and he will be rendered his military honors this evening, alongside his friend and comrade Charlie.
