Obituary

CHARLES MILTON SHARP, 88, passed on, Saturday, May 16, at Lebanon Care Center, where he had been a resident for the last nine years.

Born at home in O'Fallon, January 10, 1921, "Chas", as he was fondly known, was the youngest of four sons of Robert and Rena Sharp.

Charles attended O'Fallon schools until he joined the "3C" Camp during the depression. He "went a few rounds" during his time there, which was spent in Skokie Valley, Ill. Upon returning to O'Fallon, he got a job at St. Ellen Coal Mine where he worked above ground "bringin' it out" as he would explain to those who knew him and enjoyed listening to his stories. Later he worked as an O'Fallon laborer.

Chas was well-known around the drinking establishments of O'Fallon and well-liked by both young and old. He loved to walk the streets of O'Fallon and could be found most mornings under the big old Sycamore tree on First Street feeding the squirrels from his hand.

There will be no service.

Interment of cremated remains will occur at a later date alongside his nephew at O'Fallon City Cemetery.

"Chas" – "You Were The Best"!!
