Cheryl Lynn Sumpter, nee Young, age 58, of Shiloh, Ill., born April 12, 1963 in St. Louis, passed away Saturday evening, July 3, 2021 at Memorial East Hospital, Shiloh, after a brief and sudden illness.

Cheryl grew up in St. Louis, and was employed at Hoy Shoe Company for over 30 years. She enjoyed big-game hunting, and baking lemon meringue and chocolate pies. She collected dolphin figurines, and enjoyed tending to her hummingbirds and tomato garden. Cheryl was a devoted wife and mother, and loved her grandchildren in a special way.

Surviving are her husband Ricky Sumpter of Shiloh; her children Jesse (Glenda) Stewart of Fairview Heights, Richie (Kim) Stewart of Overland, Mo., and April Stewart of Shiloh; and her six grandchildren.

In spite of Cheryl's sudden loss, her spirit lives on as she was able to be an organ and tissue donor.
