Obituary

Cleo B. Kelly, nee Brower, age 86, of O'Fallon, born August 4, 1922 in St. Helens, Ore., passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, on Saturday evening, February 7, 2009 at Gateway Regional Medical Center, Granite City, Ill. Mrs. Kelly moved to O'Fallon in 1961, when her husband was assigned to Scott Air Force Base. She was a devoted wife, dedicated to supporting her husband and his military career. She served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross at many of their military assignments. She earned her Associate's Degree from Belleville Area College, and worked as a bank teller and bookkeeper in O'Fallon. She was a member of the O'Fallon United Church of Christ, and the Order of the Eastern Star O'Fallon Chapter 487 and former member of O'Fallon Woman's Club, Inc. Cleo enjoyed working in her yard and was a member of the local garden club and a former resident of Bradford Place.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Kelly, a decorated World War II Air Force veteran, whom she married June 25, 1954 in Anchorage, Alaska, and who passed away July 29, 2001; her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Laura Kelly, her parents William H. and Lulu Belle, nee Razey, Brower; and her older brother Cliff Brower.

She is survived by her daughter Sharon (Mike) Orndoff of O'Fallon; former daughter-in-law Barbara Kelly of Belleville, Ill.; grandchildren Jackie Kelly of Belleville, Ill., Tamara Orndoff of Central City, Colo., Robyn (Eddie Krzeminski) Orndoff of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Chris Orndoff of O'Fallon; and great-grandsons Skye, Michael, and Jack.

The family kindly requests no flowers or plants be sent. In honor of Mrs. Kelly's life, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 9374 Olive Blvd., Suite 101, St. Louis, MO 63132.

Funeral: A Memorial Service will be held 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon. Rev. Dr. Martha Thierheimer will officiate. The Order of the Eastern Star Rite will follow. Burial will be private.
