Cyril J. Meddows, age 91, of Fairview Heights, born January 19, 1930, in O'Fallon, Ill., died Saturday, October 9, 2021 at home surrounded by his family.

Cyril grew up in O'Fallon, attended O'Fallon schools, and worked 46 years as a coal miner.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, dancing with his wife of 70 years, and spending time with his family and his faithful four-legged companion Penny.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marlyn Meddows, grandson Kyle Ignatz, his parents, three brothers and one sister.

He is survived by daughters Mylaun (Mark) Weinel and Renée (Steve) Ignatz;  sons Brandon (Jennifer) Meddows and Terry (Eric Little) Meddows;  grandchildren, Wade (Betsy)Weinel, Nathan (Jessica) Weinel, Morrisa Meddows, Kylie (Blayne Fullem) Meddows, Noah Meddows and Paisley Meddows; great-grandchildren, Clair Weinel, Wesley Weinel, Addilyn Weinel, and Bryson Harris.

Private funeral services were held with the family at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, with burial at the O'Fallon City Cemetery.
