Senior Master Sergeant Daniel M. Burkett, USAF, retired, age 77, of O'Fallon, died Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at his residence.

He was born March 1, 1945 in Highland Park, Mich., the son of the late Jack E. and Mary A. Moore (Klein) Burkett. He married Mitsuko Yokouchi September 19, 1970 at Misawa Air Base, Japan. She survives. Also surviving is a son, Stephen Burkett; one grandchild, Dylan Burkett; and two siblings: Diane (the late Bud) Burke and Randy (the late Patty) Burkett.

Mr. Burkett served 22 years in the United States Air Force, earning the Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster and the Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters. He retired in 1991 from the 305 SUPS (SAC) at Grissom AFB, Ind. Dan was a member at the O'Fallon VFW Post 805.

A Celebration of Life will be 2-5 pm, Sunday, May 22, 2022 at the O'Fallon VFW Post 805.

Procession will depart Wolfersberger Funeral Home at 9:15 am, Monday, May 23, 2022 for a Graveside Service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo., to begin at 10:00 am. Military honors will be rendered.
