Daniel Dewayne Patterson, age 73, resident of Breese, Ill., passed away March 15, 2026 at his home. Dan was born January 3, 1953 in Waynesville, Mo., to James and Ruby, nee Lee, Patterson. Dan attended East Side High School in East St. Louis, Ill., and served in the US Army as an 82nd Airborne Ranger and in the US Marine Corps. He was an avid runner in his younger years, competing in multiple marathons. He worked in residential construction as a carpenter and was a former custodian at First Baptist O’Fallon. Although small in stature, he was strong as an ox, yet tender-hearted, and giving – sometimes to a fault. He loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother Timothy; and sister Pamela Kloepping.
He is survived by his daughters Kelly Boyle of Freeburg, Ill., Isabella Patterson; grandchildren Brendon, Gabby, and Emma; siblings Russell (Debbie) Patterson of Kremmling, Colo.; Teresa (Marty) Ledington of O’Fallon, Ill., Deanna Patterson of Troy, Ill., and brother-in-law Mike Kloepping of Lebanon, Ill.; nieces and nephews Dawn Armstrong, Sarah Smith Zeis, Alexis Hardy, Jack Hardy, Danielle Patterson Glosson, Kris Kohlmiller, Lauren Heimbeucher, and Joshua Ledington.
