Retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant Daniel E. Thomann, age 70, of O'Fallon, Ill., died April 19, 2017.
The seventh of twelve children, Dan was born in Buffalo, N.Y. He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force and served his country in Vietnam. He was active duty for 22 years, retiring from Scott AFB in 1986. He continued working at Scott AFB in Records Management as a civil servant. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. His family will remember him for his kindness and his loyalty. He was a faithful parishioner at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, where he participated in various ministries, sang in the choir, and volunteered with the RCIA program.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Grace, nee Bickerstaff, Thomann.
Surviving are his wife Catherine, nee Kopriver, Thomann, whom he married October 9, 1965; his four children Bonnie (Bobby) Scott of Columbia, S.C., Cheryl (Joseph) Kellmeyer of Swansea, Ill., Peter (April) Thomann of Las Vegas, Nev., and Shannon Thomann of O'Fallon, Ill.; and his much-loved nine grandchildren.
Memorial donations are suggested to Alzheimer's Association or as Masses.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Sunday, April 23, 2017 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O'Fallon, and from 9:30 – 10:15 am, Monday, April 24, 2017 at the church.
Funeral: Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Monday, April 24, 2017 at the church with Msgr. William Hitpas presiding. Lunch will follow at church before departing for burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis County, Mo.
