Obituary

Danny Bowen Wedmore, CMSgt, USAF (retired), age 76 , of O'Fallon, Ill., passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021, at his home. He was born April 20, 1944 in Muncie, Ind., the youngest of 14 children to Fyrne (nee Gibson) and John Wedmore.


Dan joined the Air Force a day after his 17th birthday. After boot camp, he was assigned to his first base in Panama City, Fla., where he met his wife, Wanda (Williams) Wedmore, to whom he was married for 57 yrs.

During his time with the Air Force, he pursued a higher education and graduated from University of So. Miss., Hattiesburg, with a degree in Industrial and Vocational Education. Later he received his Master's degree from Webster University, St Louis.

Dan retired from the military in 1987 after serving 26 yrs. He then worked in industry for Allen Bradley, teaching programable controllers throughout the tri-states of Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana, before being hired again for the Air Force in Civil Service for 24 yrs. He attended First Baptist Church O'Fallon where he was previously a member from 1981 to 1992, at which time, he and Wanda moved to Panama City. He was fortunate to finally end up at Scott AFB, where he could watch his two grandsons grow up.

Survivors include his wife Wanda; son Scott, son John (Susan Gages) Wedmore; grandsons, James and Logan; a brother Biff of Muncie, Ind., and a sister Betty of Granger, Tex., and way too many nieces and nephews to mention them all!

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm, Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon. ( Capacity: 10 people. Masks required. While the family appreciates your kindness, please respect their request to refrain from hugging or close contact.)

Funeral: The family will attend services Friday, January 8, 2020 at the funeral home. Private Graveside with military honors will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
