Obituary

Darvin C. Huller, 88, born September 17, 1935 at home in O'Fallon, Ill., passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024.

Before moving to Charter Senior Living of Shiloh 2 years ago, Darvin was a lifelong resident of O'Fallon. He graduated from O'Fallon Township High School and then attended Ranken Trade School to become a certified auto mechanic. He enlisted in the US Air Force, serving in Telecommunications from 1955 through 1959. He loved to share his stories from his time in the military. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home to O'Fallon to work as an auto mechanic in his parents' business, Arthur J. Huller Ford. The building still stands on South Lincoln in O'Fallon.

Darvin married Doris Riepshoff, formerly of Alhambra, in 1960 at the St. Clare Catholic Rectory, and they have been married for 64 years. Darvin and Doris assumed ownership of Huller Ford and later Huller Lawn, where he enjoyed working in the Parts & Service Department, and which continues to serve the community today.

They loved to dance together and attended dances most every Saturday night, where they developed many friendships over the years. Darvin was a former member of the Rotary Club of O'Fallon. In their later years, they enjoyed camping, and their precious boxer Daisy was the joy in their home.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Mildred, nee Bechtel, Huller; and sisters Betty (Bob) Peters and Shirley (Leo) Kohler.

Surviving are his wife Doris, nee Riepshoff, Huller, of Shiloh; three children Debra (Phil) Hocher, Darrell (Stacie) Huller, and Douglas (Angie Gibbons) Huller; brother-in-law Glenn (Gladys) Riepshoff; grandchildren Phillip (Kelly) Hocher, Emma (Jason) Stehlick, Margie (Khris) Boter, Amber Warchol, Jason Warchol, Katelyn Huller, Zackry (Karrie) Parker, Brennen Huller; and many great-grandchildren.
