David Arthur Horton, age 84, of O'Fallon, Ill., born August 15, 1938, in Peoria, Ill., to Wilfred and Helen, nee Koestner, Horton, passed away June 12, 2023 at Mar Ka Nursing Home, Mascoutah, Ill.

Soon after High School graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force and served 4 years as a radio controller. He then attended SIU Carbondale, earning his degree in Engineering. In 1970, Dave was appointed as O'Fallon's first Zoning Administrator, serving until 1993. He was a member of O'Fallon's Economic Development Commission from 1976-78 and served as O'Fallon Alderman from 1997-2005. He was also affiliated with Southwestern Illinois Metropolitan & Regional Planning Commission (SWIMPAC). He was a member of the Moose Lodge in O'Fallon, and he enjoyed camping, fishing, and boating in Washington Co, Ill., and at Carlyle Lake.

David enjoyed spending time with his close friends Sandra Munro and Dennis Poettker, Brian Alderson, Daniel Munro, Nicole Thompson, (the late) Jim Munro, and their extended families.

Visitation will be held 9:30 – 11:30 am, Monday, June 26, 2023 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon. Procession will depart the funeral home at 11:45 am, Monday, June 26, 2023 for a Graveside Service with military honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
