Delores A. Elliott, nee Lurtz, age 84, of Washington, Mo born September 27, 1927 in O'Fallon, Ill. died July 4, 2012 in Washington, Mo.
Mrs. Elliott lived more than eighty years in O'Fallon, and had moved to Washington, Mo. in January 2011 to be near relatives. She was a retired teacher, having taught 31 years at St. Clare Catholic School in O'Fallon, retiring in 1992. She also did substitute teaching in the O'Fallon Public School System after her retirement from St. Clare School. She was the first O'Fallon area recipient of the "Golden Apple" award for teaching excellence. She was an active member of the Senior Citizens Club of O'Fallon, serving as the treasurer for several terms. She was also active in retirement in many service organizations in the O'Fallon area, especially with the O'Fallon Food Pantry. She was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church and St. Nicholas Catholic Church.
Mrs. Elliott was a graduate of O'Fallon Township High School in 1945, and received her B.A. in education from St. Mary of the Woods College in St. Mary, Ind.
Mrs. Elliott was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Luella (nee Pier) Lurtz, a sister Anita who died in infancy, a sister Norma Ziegler, and a sister Charlene Clark.
Surviving are her high-school sweetheart and husband of 67 years Eugene of Washington, Mo., a daughter Kay Louise (Dale) Clapp of Isabel, Ill., a son Joseph (Virginia) Elliott of Union, Mo., a granddaughter Sarah (David) McCullough of Hixton, Wisc., a great-grandson Aaron Clapp of Arcola, Ill., sisters Kathryn Flowers of Fairview, Tex. and Mildred Sims of Champaign, Ill., and brother Delbert (Mary Lou) Lurtz of Fairview Heights, Ill., as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 9:30 A.M. – 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 7, 2012 at St. Clare Catholic Church. The O'Fallon Senior Citizens will conduct a walk-through at 10:00 A.M., at the church.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the church, with Rev. James Deiters presiding. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill.
