Delores "Dee" May Moye, nee Meinkoth, age 87, born May 25, 1922 in O'Fallon, Ill., to Christian Herman and Elizabeth Meinkoth, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at St. Paul's Home in Belleville. Dee was a lifelong member of O'Fallon United Church of Christ. Delores Moye Elementary School was named after her, as she had taught in the O'Fallon school system for 31 years, the last 28 teaching second grade. She always wanted to be a teacher, a plan which was temporarily put on hold in 1942 when she married Wesley Moye. They were both juniors at Southern Illinois University. Mr. Moye joined the US Navy. During this time, the new Mrs. Moye returned to her parents' home in O'Fallon and worked at Scott Air Force Base. She had many friends in O'Fallon, enjoyed playing cards and other activities, but the thing she enjoyed most was when she was finally able to realize her dream of becoming a teacher. After her retirement, Dee volunteered at the Violence Prevention Center's Shelter Shop in Belleville, and the local food pantry. Mrs. Moye was preceded in death by children Christine, Tom, and Charles; sister Mildred Christopher; two brothers Norman and Orville Meinkoth; and Mr. Wesley Moye. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law Alan, Bob, and Ann; by her brother Harold Meinkoth and his wife, Shirley; her sister Jean Lawton; her brother-in-law Bob Schwarz and his wife, Kathy; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Memorial donations may be made to Hoyleton Children's Home Foundation, 350 N. Main Street, Hoyleton, IL 62803 or to Violence Prevention Center of Southwest Illinois, PO Box 831, Belleville, IL 62222. Donations may also be accepted at the funeral home. Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 5, 2010 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon, and from 8:30 a.m. until service time, Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at O'Fallon United Church of Christ. Funeral Service will be at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at O'Fallon United Church of Christ, with Reverend Dr. Martha Thierheimer officiating. Interment will follow at Green Mount Cemetery, New Baden, Ill.
