Demetrius Joseph "DJ" Simpson, Jr., age 13, of O'Fallon, born October 18, 2000 in Omaha, Neb., passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 20, 2014.
DJ attended O'Fallon schools since kindergarten. An 8th grader at Fulton Jr. High School, he was active in sports and particularly enjoyed baseball and basketball. He played on the Fulton Jr. High basketball team and the Hoopville AAU team. As if he never met a stranger, DJ was well-liked by students and teachers; his smile and charm could light up a room. He was a devoted son and had a strong bond with his younger brother Donovan.
He was preceded in death by his father Demetrius Joseph Simpson, Sr.
Surviving are his mother Catina Simpson and his brother Donovan Simpson, of O'Fallon; his grandparents Ruby and Esau Tolson of O'Fallon; aunts Karen (Rashawn) Burns of Belleville, and Erica Tolson of O'Fallon; uncle Gregg (Floretta) Tolson.

Funeral: Funeral service will begin at 12:30 p.m., Sunday, August 24, 2014, at Marie Schaefer Elementary School, 505 S. Cherry St., O'Fallon, with Minister Charlotte Franklin officiating. Burial will follow at O'Fallon City Cemetery, O'Fallon, Ill.
