Dennis Dean Guest, aka "Chief," of O'Fallon, was born April 4, 1946 in Belleville, Ill. He passed away Friday, January 12, 2024, at the age of 77.

Dennis grew up in Belleville and, upon high school graduation, enlisted in the US Air Force. He served 4 years during the Vietnam Conflict as a jet engine mechanic, earning the National Defense Serve Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He worked for the Railroad before beginning his lengthy career with IDOT as a Road Crew Supervisor. Dennis was a good man, loyal to his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his brother Vernon.

Surviving are his wife Joy Heil of O'Fallon; children Thomas Schaeffer and Cybil Schaeffer; grandchildren Lori Meyer and Rylee Schaeffer, and his great-granddaughter Sage Cole.
