Dennis Lee Reeves, Sr., AKA "Mole" age 75, of O'Fallon, Ill., passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at home.
Dennis was born January 14, 1950 in Rockford, Ill., to William and Donna, nee Pearson, Reeves. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1968, earning the National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal in Infantry Assault. Most notably, he was awarded the Silver Star with device and Prisoner of War Medal.
Dennis was a talented musician and artist, and hand-crafted stringed instruments. He was twice voted the St. Louis area's Best Bass Guitarist. He performed with the house band at Venice Café and was a long-time band member of Liquid Gold; he was also known as the Psychedelic Mandolinist. Dennis was a kind and good-hearted man, known far and wide for his artistic abilities.
He is survived by his wife Marianne, nee Stanton, Reeves whom he married May 19, 1989; his children Dennis L. (Sue) Reeves, Jr. of Kirkwood, Mo., Matt Reeves of Phoenix, Ariz.; step-son Terrence (Krista) Delaney of Tallahassee, Fla.; and step-daughter Crystal (Alan Rodriguez) Schroeder of O'Fallon, Ill.; grandchildren Minta, Lydia, Lyle, Owen and Theo Reeves; Austin, Isaac, Nathan, Sarah and Carolyn Delaney; Kaitlyn (Tim) Renner, Hailey, Jakob, Meranda, and Marshall Schroeder; two great-grandchildren and one on the way. Also surviving are his siblings William "Bill" (Terri) Reeves, Jr. Judy Merchant, Sue (Paul) Barbour, Jerry Wayne Reeves, Ladonna (Jesse) Watts and Mary Kransy; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father William Reeves, Sr., his mother Helen Deal; his sister Anna Mae Kean, and brother-in-law Tony Kean.
Special thanks to DaVita Dialysis, especially Consuela, Jose, and Olivia who were very kind and attentive; and to the Liquid Gold bandmates for their friendship and help, and for walking with Mole over the years. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Visitation will be 4 – 8 pm, Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon, Ill.
Friends and family will gather at 10 am, Thursday, September 4, 2025 for a procession to depart the funeral home at 10:30 am, for a graveside service with military honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
