IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dennis Joseph
Sandheinrich
April 14, 1933 – July 12, 2025
Dennis J. Sandheinrich, age 92, of O'Fallon, Ill., born April 14, 1933 in Fayetteville Township to Anton G. and Agnes M., nee Lehmkuhl, Sandheinrich, died Saturday, July 12, 2025 at EverVella Care Center in Swansea, Ill.
Dennis grew up attending St. Liborius Catholic Church where he served as an altar boy. Although not an 'AVID' sports fan, he routinely cheered on the local sports teams. He was a member of the American Legion (honored for 60+ years) in St. Libory, and an active member of the O'Fallon Knights of Columbus for many years. In retirement, he drove for Meals on Wheels, and supported the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. He was a member of the Metro East Polka Club and loved playing cards, especially pinochle and poker. If you ask those who knew him, they would say Dennis was a "one of a kind" type person who would do anything for anyone.
He attended Marissa High school, graduating in 1951. He served in the Army from May 1951 to May 1953 during the Korean Conflict. After serving in the Army, Dennis worked for 32 years as a meat cutter at Swift Meat Packing plant in National City (East St. Louis) and 10 years as a custodian at O'Fallon Township High School.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Charlotte (nee Prange), daughter Sharon, son Steven, parents Anton and Agnes, brothers and sisters Otto (Dolores) Sandheinrich, Adele (Harry) Wilson, Roy (Vera) Sandheinrich, Leo (Ima Jean) Sandheinrich, Anthony "Tony, Jr.", nieces and nephews.
He is survived by a daughter Michelle and a son Michael, brother-in-law (although more like a brother) Robert (Bonnie) Prange, several nieces, nephews and godchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to either St. Clare School or St. Clare Church. Online photo tribute and guest book are available at
