Denny was born October 22, 1946 in Highland, Ill. to Cletus Walter and Johanna, nee Ribbing, Walter. He passed away August 1, 2025. Denny grew up in Highland where he was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Parish. He attended St. Paul Catholic Elementary School and High School. He married the love of his life, Sandra K. Walter, at St. Paul's on July 18, 1970 and they were happily married until Sandy's passing in 2020.

Denny served as a proud member of the United States Air Force specializing in ground radio equipment maintenance and repair. Upon return to civilian life, Denny worked for Nooter-Eriksen for over 40 years in various roles. He retired from Nooter-Eriksen as the Manager of Drafting in the spring of 2013. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends and family, golfing with his brother, maintaining a perfect yard, and tinkering in his workshop. He was a current active member of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Parish in O'Fallon.

He is survived by his two children, C. Nicole (Christopher) Simpson of Swansea, and Craig D. Walter of Fairview Heights; his siblings, Karen (Tom) Mueller of New Baden, Sharon (Jim) Muehlhauser of Arnold, Mo. and Alan (Sue) Walter of Highland; his four grandchildren, Caleb N. Simpson, Emma R. Simpson, Logan T. Walter and Easton C. Walter;  his fiancé, Katherine King; and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.

Visitation:  The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm, Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, 1411 Cross Street, O'Fallon.

Funeral:  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, at the church, with Father Jim Deiters presiding. Burial will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Highland.
