Obituary

Red Wagner, age 75, of Shiloh, born June 9, 1933 in Shiloh, passed away May 28, 2009 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Mr. Wagner retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Belleville, where he worked as the service manager in the auto department. He then drove as a newspaper carrier for several years until the late 1990s. He enjoyed sitting on the porch, watching the birds and gardening.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Mary Ann, nee Boyer, Wagner; his son Dean Wagner, son-in-law David Barnett; sisters Delores Wagner and Ruth Schwaegel; and brothers, Raymond, Vernon, Kenneth, and Melvin.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, nee Missey, Wagner whom he married February 8, 1958 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Lebanon; his children Curtis (Vicki) Wagner of Freeburg, Karen Wagner of Shiloh, Cindy Barnett of Greenville, Ill., Doug (Christina) Wagner of Columbia, Ill., Bonnie Wagner of Tilden, Kerry Wagner of Shiloh, and Dan Wagner of Belleville. His grandchildren are Rhianon, Joliene, and Diana Barnett; Sean, Sara, and Travis Wagner; Adam and Deanne Wagner, and Alex and Grace Wagner; his two great granddaughters are Isabelle and Avery Melton. Don is also survived by two brothers, Robert Wagner of Belleville, Paul Wagner of Mascoutah, and his sister Patricia Wagner of Indiana.

Memorials may be made to the Garden Ministry at St. Clare Catholic Church, to be used toward the creation of a butterfly garden.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Monday, June 1, 2009 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon, Ill.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at the funeral home, with Rev. James Deiters officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill.
