Donald D. Libell, age 89, of Fairview Heights, Ill., born January 1, 1928 in Shobonier, Ill., passed away Wednesday morning, November 1, 2017 at Evelyn's Hospice House, Creve Coeur, Mo.

Don grew up in Shobonier, Ill., and graduated from Vandalia High School. He served in the US Army during World War II. Don was a communications operator for the railroad for 42 years. He was a faithful member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Ainad Shrine. He was devoted to his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents John Frank Libell and Pearl, nee Leininger, Libell; his son Bradley Libell, and his sister Denise Curran.

Surviving are his wife, Lorraine, nee Davis, Libell of Fairview Heights, Ill. whom he married November 25, 1950 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in East St. Louis, Ill.; his children Mark Libell of University City, Mo., Bruce Libell of East Peoria, Ill., Nelson (Carolyn) Libell, Sr. of Hazelwood, Mo., and Andrea (Steven) Ziegler of Fairview Heights, Ill.; his grandchildren Alexander, Jason, Sharon, Nelson Jr., Jordan, Jason, and Alexandra; great-grandchildren Beverly, Rylee, and Teslyn; and his siblings Floyd (Harriet) Libell, Eloise Alverson, and Janice Meyer Lillie.

Memorial donations are suggested to St. Michael's Episcopal Church, and will be accepted at the funeral home or the church.

Visitation: Friends may call 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2017 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, and from 9:30 – 10:15 am, Saturday, November 4, 2017 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 111 O'Fallon Troy Rd., O'Fallon, Ill.

Funeral: A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 am, Saturday, November 4, 2017 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, O'Fallon, with Father Ian C. Wetmore presiding. Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
