Doris I. Hertenstein (nee Joseph), 93, of O'Fallon, Ill., died Thursday, July 12, 2007 in Belleville, Ill. She was born May 4, 1914 to Frank and Frieda (nee Portz) Joseph in O'Fallon, Ill. Mrs. Hertenstein was an elementary school teacher and was a member of O'Fallon United Church of Christ and the Shiloh Valley Garden Club.

She is survived by daughter Dixie (Ralph) Keck of O'Fallon; granddaughter Karen (Mark Campbell) Keck and their children Maggie and Bobby of Kirksville, MO; granddaughter Kathy (Mike) Cornwall and their children Jennifer, Sean, and Erin of O'Fallon; granddaughter Kristie (Chris) Belobrajdic and their children Jack and Kevin of O'Fallon; grandson Tom (Holly) Hertenstein and their son Eliot of California; former daughter-in-law Barbara Jocobitti of Lebanon, IL; sisters-in-law Dorothy (Vic) Kippis of Kenewick, Wash., and Margaret Joseph of Lebanon, Ill; niece Doris (Richard) McGuire of New Mexico; nephew Tom (Sally) Joseph of O'Fallon; and many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Hertenstein, whom she married June 27, 1936, her parents, son Dean Hertenstein, and brothers Don and Dean Joseph.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hoyleton Children's Home or O'Fallon United Church of Christ Outreach Fellowship and may be sent to Wolfersberger Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at O'Fallon United Church of Christ Saturday, July 28, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Walter Gerth officiating.
