Dorothy "Dottie" Beckman, nee Schmidt, age 100, born July 21, 1924 in O'Fallon, Ill., passed away November 23, 2024 at St. Paul's Home in Belleville, Ill.

Dottie grew up in O'Fallon and married Norris Beckman on September 21, 1945; he preceded her in death on December 9, 2014. Dottie worked for many years at the former Hartman's Moonlight restaurant in downtown O'Fallon. They enjoyed dancing on Saturday nights and she was a lifelong member at O'Fallon United Church of Christ. Dottie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents George and Mae, nee Jacquot, Schmidt; son-in-law Jerry Gass; brothers Kenneth (Jean) Schmidt, Robert (Patricia) Schmidt; and sister Betty (Rolland) Shull.

Surviving are her children Linda Gass of Troy, Ill., and Michael (Barbara "Cookie") Beckman, of Chesterfield, Mo.; grandchildren Keith Michael Gass of Wis., Kirk David (Heather) Gass of Fla., Karrie Lyn (Michael) Vantieghem of Troy, Ill., Tracy Ann (Jay) Black of Peoria, Ill., Stephanie Michelle (Chris) Kolb of Wildwood, Mo., Julie Beckman (Phil) Weber of Chesterfield, Mo., and 16 great-grandchildren: Nathan Michael Penn-Gass, Nicholas Michael Gass, Jordan Taylor Gass, Cole Michael Vantieghem, Zackary Paul Vantieghem, Bryce Patrick Vantieghem, Hayden Michael (Tara) Black, Kaitlyn Taylor Black, Kylie Mackenzie Black, Brooklyn Grace Black, James Michael Kolb, Jacob Christopher Kolb, Addison Michelle Kolb, Landon Philip Weber, Gavin Michael Weber, and Taylor Allison Weber, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will host private services at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Martha Thierheimer officiating. Dorothy will be laid to rest at O'Fallon City Cemetery, O'Fallon, Ill.
