Dorothy E. Burke, nee Harper, age 102, long-time resident of O'Fallon, Ill., departed this life peacefully September 15, 2023 at Aviston Countryside Manor.

Dorothy was born January 30, 1921 in Dupo, Ill. to Raymond and Nelle (Rudesill) Harper. She was married to the late Fred Burke and raised three children in a loving home. Dorothy met monthly with a select group of childhood friends they called the Peabody Club. They enjoyed each other's company in their homes or local restaurants well into their golden years. She was an avid reader, especially of love stories, and always had pet dogs in her home.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Burke was preceded in death by her former son-in-law Richard McClelland, and her granddaughter-in-law Teri McClelland.

She is survived by children Cherie McClelland, Nancy (Tony) Kohrig, and Raymond (Patty) Burke, all of O'Fallon; grandchildren Chris, Laura, and Lisa; and great-grandchildren Cody, Riley, Hayden, Drew, and Helena.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Nicholas Catholic Church or to the American Diabetes Association.

Visitation begins at 10:30 am, Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O'Fallon, Ill. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 am, at the church with Rev. Nick Junker presiding. Interment will be at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Ill.
