Dorothy Jean McDonald, nee Rice, age 84, of O'Fallon, born January 5, 1927 in Ottawa, Ill., died November 1, 2011 at her home, under the loving care of her family.

Mrs. McDonald was a parishioner at St. Nicholas Catholic Church; she was a devoted wife, a kind and caring mother, and a beloved grandmother. She was a woman of strong faith; she enjoyed being with her family and watching Wheel of Fortune.

She was preceded in death by her dear husband, William O. McDonald, Sr., whom she married February 19, 1949, and who passed away August 5, 1992; her parents, Richard and Marie, nee Mooney, Rice; her beloved son, Tim McDonald; her brother Richard Rice, and son-in-law Thomas Jones.

Surviving are her children, Bill (Patty) McDonald of Colorado and their children Bryan (Jenny) McDonald and Kelley McDonald; Bob McDonald of O'Fallon and his children Mary (TJ) McManus, Casey McDonald and Anna McDonald; John (Misty) McDonald of O'Fallon and their children Zachary and Zoey McDonald; Patricia McDonald of O'Fallon and her children Brett and Kristen Jones; and Pamela (Jim) Stover of Shiloh and their children Patricia (Dave) Matevey, and Barbie and Sandy Stover. Also surviving are her brother Donald Rice and her sister Rita Allen; 4 great grandchildren and one more on the way.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Nicholas Catholic Church.

Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 3, 2011 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O'Fallon, Ill. with Rev. William J. Hitpas presiding.

Interment: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Riverview Cemetery, Marseilles, Ill.
