Dorothy Mae Vecera, nee Krois, age 87, of O'Fallon, born June 28, 1933 in St. Louis, Mo., passed away December 28, 2020 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Dot had previously worked as a secretary on the Cahokia School Board, and as a salesperson for Portfolio Furniture. Later, she worked alongside her husband, Joe, in the family business, JoeVeeTV, in Cahokia, until their retirement. Last year, Dot and Joe were part of a 4-person team from Cambridge House who won 2 ^nd Place in the state for Seniors' Wii Bowling. She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, and loved writing short stories and poetry. Throughout her life, her family was of utmost importance to her. She was proud of her children and grandchildren, and she enjoyed being part of the community at Cambridge House.

She was preceded in death by her father and step-mother Alvin and Ruby Krois.

She is survived by her beloved husband Joseph Vecera, whom she married October 1, 1955; her daughter Karen (Kirk) Martin of Cahokia; her son Timothy (Monica) Vecera of O'Fallon; her beloved grandchildren Krista, Cara, and Cassie Martin, and Kayla and Eric Vecera; her sister Helen (Joseph) Gambino of Chesterfield, Mo., niece Michele Coombs and nephew Thomas Gambino.

Her family is grateful to the staff and caregivers at both Cambridge House of O'Fallon and Memorial Hospital, who offered comfort and compassion to Dot and her family. Memorial donations are suggested to either St. Nicholas Church or to Cambridge House of O'Fallon's Activity Fund.

The family will receive friends after 10 am, Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. (masks required). Mass will begin at 11 am, at the church, with Msgr. William J. Hitpas presiding. Private interment will be at O'Fallon City Cemetery, O'Fallon, Ill.
