Duane Lee Meddows, age 67, of O'Fallon, born March 6, 1949 in Belleville, Ill., passed away Saturday morning, June 11, 2016, at John Cochran VA Medical Center, St. Louis, Mo.

Duane grew up in O'Fallon, and worked in the coal mines. He was a life member of O'Fallon VFW Post 805. Duane was a Vietnam veteran, and had served in the US Marines from 1969 – 1972, earning a Purple Heart.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents Helen Koblitz Elliott and Cletus Meddows; his siblings Linda Meddows and Dennis Meddows; and his brother-in-law Donald Van Etten.

Surviving are his siblings Delores Van Etten of O'Fallon, Cathy Bauer of O'Fallon, Sharon Elliott of O'Fallon, Donna Burns of Belleville, and Alan Meddows of Springfield, Ill., and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to VFW Post 805.

Visitation: 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon. The VFW Post 805 will conduct a service at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Funeral: 11:00 am, Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon. Following the service, a reception and luncheon will be served at the VFW Post 805, 223 West First Street, O'Fallon, Illinois.

Procession will depart promptly at 10:15 am, Monday, June 27, 2016 for Jefferson Barracks, where a military graveside committal service will begin at 11:00. All are welcome.
