Obituary

Dwight Lee "Borgy" Borgstrand, Col. USAF (retired) age 60, of O'Fallon, born August 15, 1948 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa; passed away at home on February 22, 2009.

Dwight earned his bachelor degree in Political Science from Drake University in Iowa and his graduate degree from Golden Gate University. He married Wendy Dobson on August 19, 1971 in New Columbus, Kentucky. He began his Air Force security forces career in 1972, culminating with his retirement in 2004. His duty assignments spanned the globe, but he returned to O'Fallon two years ago and began his own Private Investigations business. Dwight was a faithful member of O'Fallon Assembly of God Church and the O'Fallon Sunrise Rotary Club. He enjoyed snow skiing, travelling, history, and spending time with his granddaughter, Alexis. Through it all, Dwight had an amazing faith in God's will and plan for his life.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents Milburn J. and Anna Ethel, nee Dannen, Borgstrand.

He is survived by his wife, Wendy Borgstand; daughter Kristin Borgstrand and grand-daughter Alexis, all of O'Fallon; his twin brother Dwayne Borgstrand of Cody, Wyo., sisters Twyla Edgington of Fort Myers, Fla., and Becky Borgstrand of Prunedale, Calif; and nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made in Dwight's honor to American Cancer Society- pancreatic cancer research.

Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 7, 2009 at O'Fallon Assembly of God Church, with Rev. Dale C. Edwards officiating. Committal Service with full military honors will take place 3:00 pm, Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Arlington National Cemetery.
