Edward Grover Morse, age 82, formerly of O'Fallon, born March 31, 1933 in Tannersville, N.Y., passed away October 22, 2015 at Mar-Ka Nursing Home in Mascoutah, Ill.
Ed grew up in Jewett, N.Y., and enlisted in the US Air Force soon after high school graduation. He served four years during the Korean Conflict, primarily in the 565th Armament and Electronics Maintenance Squadron.
He spent most of his early career as an employee of the Post Office in Kingston, N.Y. Ed retired as Postmaster from West Hurley, N.Y. He and his beloved wife Carolyn spent several retirement years in Boca Raton, Fla. before moving to O'Fallon. She loved the Florida beaches and he loved the golfing. Ed was always very outgoing. He was a member of the VFW Post 805 in O'Fallon.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn, nee Meeker, Morse in 2000, his father, Newell, and mother, Marjorie, nee Maben, and his brother-in-law Phil Walrath.
Surviving are his two sons Mark (Linda) Morse of O'Fallon, and David (Jean) Morse of N.C.., and his grandchildren Danny (Destiny), Ryan, Rachel and Aaron; and his sister Patricia Walrath of Colonie, N.Y.
Memorial donations are suggested to the O'Fallon VFW Post 805.
