Eileen Lois Butler, age 85, of O'Fallon, born June 1, 1925 in Allentown, Penn., died Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Mrs. Butler was a parishioner at St. Nicholas Catholic Church where she was a member of Yesterday's Kids. She enjoyed traveling and dining at restaurants. Eileen had a youthful spirit and shared her love of life, her appreciation for music, and good fun with her children and grandchildren. She was a fantastic cook and a devoted grandmother. Before moving to O'Fallon in 1982, she was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Washington Park, Ill., where she and her family were active in the church and school.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmitt Butler; her mother and step-father, George and Olga, nee Werre, Stoeckel; her son-in-law, Jim Darling; and grandson, Joshua Darling.

She is survived by her three children, Kathy Darling of Destin, Fla., Terry (Nancy Baker) Butler of Portland, Ore., and Shari (Terry) Schutzenhofer of O'Fallon; grandchildren, Jim (Mary) Darling, Bill (Teresa) Darling; Ryan, Katie and Haley Schutzenhofer; sister Gail Hornbostel of Caseyville; several nieces and nephews, and her many friends at the O'Fallon Apartments.

Memorials in honor of Mrs. Butler are requested to St. Nicholas Catholic Church Building Fund or in the form of Masses.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 4, 2010 and 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 5, 2010 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church.

Funeral Service: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 5, 2010 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, with Rev. William J. Hitpas presiding.

Private burial will be at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
