Eileen Ruth Vink, (nee O'Meara), age 92, of O'Fallon, born September 12, 1916 in Bay City, Mich., passed away Tuesday evening, September 23, 2008 at Lebanon Care Center. Mrs. Vink was a life member of O'Fallon Sportsman's Club, had played in the Senior Citizens' Kitchen Band, and volunteered for many years, leading sing-alongs at area nursing homes. She was a member of the Altar Sodality at St. Clare Catholic Church and also attended St. Nicholas Catholic Church. In the 1970's and 80's, she worked as a nurse's aide at O'Fallon Health Care and other nursing homes.
Mrs. Vink was preceded in death by her husband Virgil F. Vink, whom she married October 21, 1943 in Bay City, Mich.; and who passed away Jan. 6, 1978; her parents, Edward and Martha, nee Murphy, O'Meara; her five brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her son, Harry (Rosemary) Vink of Lebanon, Ill.; daughter, Gil (Roger) Taylor of Indio, Calif.; grandchildren Stacey (Joe) Dean of Reynoldsburg, Ohio and Erica (Brandon) Cisan of Las Vegas, Nev.; four great grandchildren Jed, Drake, and Zane Dean; and Cora Cisan. She will also be missed by her long-time, faithful kitty companions, Cleo and Kitt.
Memorial Donations in honor of Mrs. Vink are requested to either St. Clare Catholic Church or St. Nicholas Catholic Church.
Visitation: Friends may call from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 26, 2008 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O'Fallon.
Funeral Service: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 26, 2008 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, with Msgr. William Hitpas presiding.
Interment will follow at O'Fallon City Cemetery.
